Family Project
We got our first "family project" assignment from Paige's teacher last Friday. The assignment was to build a boat from anything we wanted. The only rule was that everyone had to participate. We couldn't just put something together for Paige and send it to school. As if she would let us do that!! We spent a couple of hours Monday trying to construct a Noah's Ark type boat from popsicle sticks. Well, there were many flaws in our plan and needless to say, Noah's boat did not float!! But we had fun trying to put it together and we moved on to plan B. The above pictures are the fruits of our labor. We all helped. We made the body of the boat with styrofoam. I couldn't find the hot glue gun so duct tape did the trick to keep it all together. Paige wanted it to be a unicorn boat so we picked up the decorations at Hobby Lobby today. We didn't like the look of silver duct tape so we got this cooky idea to cover it with bubble wrap. I am glad we did. I think it is the coolest boat. Paige glued on the unicorns and the "pom-poms" on top. We also made a bracelet that said "PAIGE" to drape over the back. After it was all put together we tested it in the bathtub to make sure it floats. Preston laughed when I suggested it. With all the styrofoam and a little help from bubble wrap he said it would take at least 15 pounds to sink that thing!! HAHA!! But we all enjoyed the maiden voyage!!
